Card BIN

Check a card number and its issuing bank

Enter the first 6 to 8 digits of a payment card and see the network, issuing bank, country and card type — including whether it is prepaid. Paste a full number and the checksum is verified in your browser; only the first digits are ever sent.

Try

  • Card network & product
  • Issuing bank & country
  • Debit, credit & prepaid detection
  • Luhn checksum & length validation

What the report tells you

The first six to eight digits of a card number, the BIN, identify who issued it. A card check resolves that BIN into the card network, the product, the issuing bank and its country, and whether the card is debit, credit or prepaid. If you paste a full card number, its Luhn checksum and length are checked in your browser, so a mistyped or invented number shows up straight away.

Your card number stays with you

A full card number is never sent to OSINT Intel. The search bar cuts it down to the first eight digits before anything leaves your browser, and only that BIN is looked up, stored and shown in the report link. The BIN says which bank issued a card, which is not enough to use or identify the card itself.

What a BIN cannot tell you

A BIN describes the issuer, not the card. It cannot confirm that a card exists, has funds or belongs to the person using it; only the issuing bank can, through a payment authorisation. What it can do is show a mismatch: a buyer who claims to be in Germany paying with a prepaid card issued in another continent is worth a second look.

When to run one

When reviewing a disputed order or chargeback, when a buyer's card country does not match their shipping address or IP, or when checking whether a card used for a signup is a prepaid or virtual card.
